Pre Reading Activities Review the novel’s title, cover page, back page, and summary and make a prediction about the book In you prediction log, predict what kinds of things might happen to this girl on her way to Zimbabwe. Create a K-W-L chart and write what you already know about the countries, geography, people, and customs of Africa. Use worldatlas.com to look at a map of Africa. Locate Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Record the things that you already know about Africa in the K column. Write what you want to know about Africa, specifically about its countries, geography, people, and customs in the W column. Also , what do you want to know about the main character, Nhamo. Record questions in the W column of the chart.
