There must be balance between Design, Layout, Marketing needs and Personal needs. A website is only as good as its layout AND content. When creating a professional website - AND A WEBSITE IS DIFFERENT THAN A BLOG SITE - keep in mind that it needs to be literate to both humans and computer spiders. Web Literate means spelling out to the Search Engine spiders, EXACTLY what the web site is as well as making it readable to human visitors Letters to fans, letters to the public, recipes, funny little stories can all do one important thing, stop your website from reaching its intended market: Recipes, letters, etc belong on special pages, NOT THE HOME PAGE, or any of the important main pages. What is needed on the Home Page, is a strict adherence to protocol. This means the page needs to follow the layout structure which Search Engines use. Filled with Keywords and Phrases, Pictures with the ALT TAG filled in, Headers in the correct architectural proportion with strong KEYWORD DENSITY are all required to fight the hundreds of thousands of other authors who want their website to be on the first page of GOOGLE, BING, YAHOO and ASK. How can this be done?

The important search engines will penalize you for Keyword stuffing, as it is known, and possibly list your website as a spammer site. Remember, keep it simple, do not play games with the SEO unless you have been trained in the proper methods of doing extras.
