This means we take a strategic, national-level view of maritime situational awareness activity, relate it to current intelligence about what is important now and in the near future, and apply it to identify anticipatory intelligence on future trends, game changers, and drivers of maritime issues. (Right) NMIO’s Maritime Intel unity of effort is designed to: Disrupt illicit use of the maritime domain; and protect legitimate use. We provide IC integration through a Maritime Intelligence Strategy Board chaired by RADM Sharp that utilizes a UIS to identify Hard Targets, Campaigns and Initiatives. Later, we will go into more detail about what the maritime community has identified for priority challenges in the UIS. ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Coast Guard Cutter Mustang escorts U.S. Navy Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler, USNS Henry J. Kaiser, into the port of Seward, Alaska. The Coast Guard’s 41 110-foot Island-class patrol boats, such as Mustang, are important contributors to joint-force maritime national security readiness. The Coast Guard is refurbishing 20 patrol boats from this fleet under the Mission Effectiveness Project, until replacement platforms such as the Sentinel-class are acquired.
