EDUC 4200 English Specialisation Week 9 Writing 1

Today The English teacher and teaching writing. ACARA and writing through to the SACE. Types of writing and some approaches to writing tasks. Presentation assignment. Next week: Looking ahead to PAR 4 – present an approach to a writing task, - the first engagement bit.

The Headset Purpose and audience is paramount. The social purpose of texts. Genre reproduction – be careful of simply replicating dominant forms of writing. Production line approach – show, tell & do.

Approaches Well modelled genre approach – be explicit but allow room to move. Writing is a process – can be complementary to the genre approach. Plan, draft, edit, refine, review.
