What Jesus Taught about Praying in His Name
Yasmin’s story
“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” –John 14:13-14 NKJV
What does it mean to pray in the name of Jesus?
What it does not mean: To use the name of Jesus like a magic power without any living connection with Him.
The seven sons of Sceva. –Acts 19:13-16 NKJV
What it does mean: To pray in the name of Jesus means we take our stand under His authority.
“All authority is given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go…” –Matthew 28:18-19 NKJV
The experience of Peter and John: “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” –Acts 3:6 NKJV
What it does mean: To pray in the name of Jesus means we are surrendered to His will.
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” –1 John 5:14 NKJV
