Learning Map for Year 2: Summer 1 2018 www.wholewideworld Please encourage your child to read each day Learning Map for Year 2: Summer 1 2018 www.wholewideworld Home Learning set on Thursday and due back the following Tuesday Can I understand events beyond living memory? Children to learn about historical events around the world. The children will be learning about local and global events. Can I name and locate the worlds 7 continents and 5 oceans? Can I name, locate and identify characteristics of the four countries? The children will be learning how to use the features of the iPads effectively. They will also be researching parts of the word and making a presentation using the information they have learnt. Theme Can I indentify features of a locality and develop my map reading skills? The children will design their own maps and identify natural differences in parts of the world. ICT English Year 2 www.wholewideworld.com Can I write a story based on a significant author? The children will be inventing their own characters, planning their own ideas and using detailed checklists to write their stories including the use, effective grammar and in the correct tense. RE Art Maths The children are learning about the 10 commandments . They will be looking at the 10 commandments, what they mean to Christians and their purpose in everyday life. PSHE The children will be learning about the work of British artists and artists around the world and making comparisons. They will then produce their own artwork based on various cultures. Science Changes and relationships. Children to understand themselves and how to be a good friend. Can I understand the different parts of a plant? Children to label the various parts of a plant. The children will be recapping on their times tables and number facts and using these to perform calculations and solve problems. They will be developing their mental math's skills. Children will be identifying lines of symmetry in shapes, finding fractions and partitioning numbers Can I explain what makes a plant grow? Children to know how to make a plant grow.
