Location Guiding Question: Where is it? Absolute Location – the exact spot on earth where something is found Latitude and Longitude Relative Location – the position of a place in relation to other places. The United States is south of Canada

Place Guiding Question: What is it like? Every place on earth has characteristics that make it different from every other place. Physical – That which occurs naturally Example: weather, landforms, plants (flora) and animals (fauna) Cultural – That which humans create Example: people, culture, ideas, buildings, schools

Movement (Spatial Interaction) Guiding Question: How do people, goods and ideas move from one place to another? Examples: Planes, trains, and automobiles Shipping boats Internet Books

Human Environment Interaction Guiding Question: How do people relate to their physical world? Adapt Example: Light-colored clothing in a hot climate Change Build bridges and roads
