Presentation transcript:

Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 Rubens Lacouture, Jonathan Garcia, Jamari Robinson

Objective The objective of this act was to create a better system of regulations and disclosure on lobbying. It fixed the flaws of previous laws that were created to regulate lobbying.

Improvements Changed definition of lobbyist and lobbying activities Provided deadlines for lobbyist to file bi annual activity reports Lobbyist are required to register with the clerk of the house of representatives and the secretary of the senate.

Limitations Inadequate public access to the reports. Inadequate enforcement Lack of monitoring for the enforcement of violations No single agency had the ability to enforce the authority of the FDA. Absence of conduct regulations More legislations would be needed to control the conduct of interest groups Inadequate public access to the reports.

B+, It was effective but it is not effective enough to regulate the conducts of interest groups. It doesn’t really do anything to punish interest groups who violate the law. It doesn’t do anything to fix the unfairness of using soft money which is not limited.
