Innovation Conference May 18, 2017 Canisius College, Buffalo NY COTE Updates & Events STEM OER Symposium May 12, 2017 Empire State College https://www.esc.edu/stem-oer-symposium/ Innovation Conference May 18, 2017 Canisius College, Buffalo NY Register: canisius.edu/cic Empire State College is hosting a one day symposium on May 12th for faculty and professionals from a variety of STEM disciplines to: collaborate, engage in dialog on effective ways to develop OERs, find and evaluate existing OERs, and to effectively integrate OERs into their courses. The Interactive Platform Moved from Google Sheets to web-based platform Manage multiple scorecards Easily make changes Add and delete other users to work on specific rubric See status of scorecard Complete third party reviews Send comments Download reports New platform allows for more flexibility to create and store information plus provideseasier access to a wider more users Users can manage multiple scorecards from their OLC dashboard See an error? Need to make an update? Return to the rubric and update easily. This includes the ability to upload documents to support responses. If more than one person needs to complete the information in the rubric, the person that created the scorecard can add other members. Status of scorecard can be changed Created In Progress (Information still be added) In Final Review (Third Party Review being completed) Complete (no more changed being made) Use the tool to complete third party reviews allowing others to validate the quality of the work. Comments can be sent from the Lead Author of the scorecard to the Lead Reviewer. Useful if there are questions about responses made or missing information. From the Dashboard, reports can be downloaded to provide a summary of information collected in the rubric.

Interactive Scorecard Scorecard Dashboard From the Interactive Scorecard Dashboard, you can access all of your OSCQR scorecards. This graphic is linked to the URL. If you are not logged into the OLC site before the call, you can show participants how they have to go through login process first to use interactive platform. Interactive Scorecard

Create a Scorecard After you log in, you will be at the OLC Scorecards Dashboard. You should see a button on the right that says Create Scorecard. Click on that to create your OSCQR scorecard.

Create a Scorecard Enter a name for the Scorecard, Select the Institution and make sure you click the dropdown box for Template Name to select the OSCQR scorecard. Then click Create Scorecard.

Course Profile You will next go to the Course Profile page. Please enter appropriate information here.

Adding Team Members On the right side of the screen, you will see the Team Members assigned to work on the scorecard. The person that created the scorecard is added by default as the Lead Author. You can add members by clicking the add button below the name.

Add Team Member Dialog Box Click drop down list Select role This will take you to a dialog box where you can select the role for the additional member and enter the name of the user.

Team Member Responsibilities Once the Team Member has been added, click on the name to add sections that person can access and complete.

Team Member Roles Lead Author (creator of the scorecard) Can access and add information to all sections Can change the status of the scorecard Co-Author Can access and add information to assigned sections Author Observer Has view only access to all sections Lead Reviewer Can access all sections and review input provided Can send comments to the Lead Author Reviewer Can access all assigned sections and provided review input

Provide Response to Standard For each question, please click on the Review button to begin entering information.

Indicator Descriptions A description of the indicator can be found on the right side of the screen.

Scoring Rubric Click on the down arrow next to the “View Scoring Rubric” to see specifics. Currently identified as a “score” by the interactive platform this really refers to how much time to anticipate needing to make improvements to the course that meet the standard.

Navigation Use the arrow facing in two directions to expand or compress the description and comments section. This can provide you with more space to complete the rubric. The cogwheels next to it, will provided access to change the status of the scorecard. Click Next Question to move between questions.

Comments After you have entered information for your response to the standard and click Submit,the Comments feature will appear in the same location as the Indicator Description. To switch back to the description, click the tab on the right. You can add comments by entering information in the box that says “What’s on your mind?” then select the person that will receive it and press Reply. The person receiving the comment has to have a role in the specific rubric or the name will not appear. Once the comment has been sent, the recipient will get an email notification. They can then view the comment in the scorecard and send a reply as appropriate.

Standard Ready After completing all information for a specific indicator, you can change the status to Ready for Review which can be used to notify the Lead Author that the work has been completed on that particular standard.

Rubric Review Status The Lead Author can change the status of the scorecard. By default, a new scorecard status is set to Created. Clicking the cogwheel in the upper right side on the page that lists all of the scorecard questions, the scorecard status can be changed to In Progress or In Review. Once it has been changed to In Review, the Lead Reviewer and any additional reviewers can begin completing the review and provide feedback.
