Message from the new superintendent, DR. LONARDI https://vimeo.com/283753459

Team C: Core Teachers Mrs. Barber- ELA- Team C Leader Ms. Lascelle- ELA Mrs. Sandora-Math Mrs. Cain– Science Mr. Taraborrelli - Social Studies Mrs. Schatz- Learning Support & Curriculum Support Ms. Babcock & Mrs. McManus- Gifted Support Ms. McGrath- Guidance Counselor Mr. Mulvey – Blue House Principal

Schoology Classwork and homework assignments will be posted daily HW will always be designated with the subject, the letters “HW” Ex: SS-HW-Taraborrelli Marking Period folders Unit folders (Projects, Links to movies, submitting assignments) Tests, quizzes, and labs may be taken in Schoology. Those individual assessments will show up and can be viewed in Schoology. It is not the students’ accurate cumulative grade. Submitting Assignments (Teachers will let the students know whether or not they are to submit assignments via Schoology or in the classroom)

eSchools/Home Access Center All grades are entered in eSchools. (HAC, Parent Portal) A zero indicates your child did not turn in the assignment (will be replaced with grade when your child submits the work within a reasonable time frame) If the area is blank, the assignment has not been graded yet. If the area has an “X” it means the child is exempt from that assignment. Grade Book notifications: Every two weeks (Stay vigilant)

Fall Field Trips Team C is scheduled to go to Paradise Farm on October 11th to 12th and walk to Shamona Creek for Water Study on November 9th. One permissions slip that incorporates BOTH trips will be sent via email as a google form mid-September Information regarding clearances will be included in Google Form

Top Ten Reasons to Chaperone at Paradise Farm! 10. Interact with your child’s teachers outside the classroom 9. Get to use the sleeping bag that has been collecting dust since before you had kids Possibility of meeting your child’s future significant other with great stories to tell When else can you use the wool ski socks you purchased? 6. You don’t have to cook! 5. By the spring your child will not want you to chaperone! 4. The food 3. Sleeping without heat is good for your health 2. Finally being able to put faces with the new friends your child keeps talking about 1. Unforgettable memories with you darling child!

Transition Responsibilities Band/Orchestra class absence policy (Students must take ownership of their absence) Don’t give up yet: Your child needs help getting to the starting line before the race Self Advocacy: Daily communication/questions regarding class or assignments should be communicated to the teacher by the student. (this can happen face to face, or through email) Absences: Students are responsible for getting missed work due to illness or vacation through Schoology or talking to the teacher and making it up according to the teacher’s deadline.

For more information please refer to Schoology. Independent study is available for most units for every student who can show mastery on the pre-test (90%).   If your child is an independent learner, masters science concepts easily and/or enjoys a challenge, this may work for her/him. When working on independent projects, students will be in the gifted classroom.  Misbehavior or lack of effort can lead to being removed. Students will still participate in labs and certain activities with their science class. For more information please refer to Schoology.
