2017 Review Cycle (90 days)* February 2017- Jan. 25-Feb. 1, 2017- applications due, completeness checks begin February 2017- Completeness checks, 48 hour cure window, substantive reviews begin March/April 2017- substantive reviews, capacity interviews (for qualifying applicants), due diligence March/April 2017- SCPCSD Board takes action on applications in public hearings * Proviso 1A.54?

SCPCSD Review Stages Completeness Check Interview . Substantive Review Interview Review of all technical requirements Occurs w/in 10 days of submission of application 48 hour cure window In-depth evaluation of the full application if determined to be complete Conducted by a team of external and internal reviewers Due diligence For qualifying applicants Assesses planning committee’s capacity to establish and implement a high-quality charter school

SCPCSD Submission Requirements Must respond to all applicable questions contained in the SCDE 2017 Application and the SCPCSD Addendum. Submit a copy of your SCDE application (including applicable appendices) and SCPCSD addendum (including all applicable attachments) to the SCPCSD via Google Drive. Submit a copy of your SCDE application (including applicable appendices) and SCPCSD addendum (including all applicable attachments) to the SCDE in electronic format or via hard copy.

WHAT TO EXPECT The opportunity to submit missing components (sections, appendices, and attachments) after notified of an incomplete submission. To hear little from the SCPCSD until the full evaluation of your application is completed. To receive an in-depth evaluation of your application by a team of high-quality and experienced authorizers from around the country as well as a team of internal evaluators with expertise in the areas of academic programming, special education, school finance, and charter development and governance. To receive as much notice as possible of the date of the capacity interview and public hearing. To receive a copy of the SCPCSD Recommendation report prior to the scheduled public hearing. The opportunity to submit clarifying information if the review team determines such is necessary to make a recommendation to the SCPCSD Board.

Submission Don’ts Do Not: Fail to submit your application to the SCPCSD via Google Drive. Fail to submit a copy in electronic format or via hard copy to the SCDE Charter Office. Submit a proposal to the SCPCSD that is different from the one submitted to the SCDE. Submit an incomplete application. Attempt to submit revisions or additional documents after the 48 hour window closes. Simply state you will comply with applicable law. Submit the same application as in previous cycles without addressing the issues identified in the recommendation report and denial notice.
