2 Timothy 4:7

“I have fought the good fight” Choose to make a fight against sin – Romans 6:12-16 Winning victory over past sins – Romans 3:21-26; Ephesian 1:7 Be vigilant against Satan’s tricks & deceptions – 1 Peter 5:8; Matthew 26:41; 2 Corinthians 2:11; Mark 13:37

“I have fought the good fight” Practice Self-discipline & Self-denial as a Good Soldier- 2 Timothy 2:3; 1 Corinthians 9:25-27 Call upon Strength of Right Preparation – Ephesians 6:13-18; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Romans 8:31- 39; Hebrews 3:12-14; 2 Timothy 2:15

“I have finished the race…” “RACE” – “COURSE” Acts 13:25 “finishing his course” Mark 1:1-8 the work God assigns Acts 20:24 “finish my race with joy” Acts 20:22,23 facing impending death sentence Will we have finished our course when our life nears an end?

“I have finished the race…” NOT if we have wasted many opportunities to do good! NOT if we have grown weary & stopped living a faithful life Galatians 6:9 “not grow weary” Hebrews 12:3-5 “lest you become weary & discouraged in your souls” Hebrews 10:35,36 “need of endurance”

“I have finished the race…” NOT if we are NOT obeying the Lord- His course does not include much of the foolishness to which we devote our time & lives! Take Heed what you are sowing in life- Galatians 6:7-9 What “course” are you on right now? Are you working for the Lord?

“I have kept the faith…” Have we kept the faith? Following “the apostles’ doctrine?” Acts 2:42 Nothing else will do- Galatians 1:6-9 – perverted gospel, no matter who teaches it, is accursed by God Transgressing Doctrine of Christ is to be “without God” – 2 John 9-11 “Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God….”

“I have kept the faith…” “Keeping the faith” Narrowed too much by Some: “Teaching what is right on a few issues” “Believing Christ is God’s Son” “Being a member of one specific church” “Being a good moral person”

“I have kept the faith…” It IS Doing ALL that is REVEALED for us to do: Moral life, Worshipping right, Right name, Right work, Right attitudes, Right conduct, Right living, etc. Those who “Keep the Faith:” Crown of Righteousness Love His Appearing

“I have kept the faith…” Go outside, look up to the sky – imagine the Trumpet would sound RIGHT NOW – TIME IS OVER NOW! What would you think in that moment? “Oh, finally! – I’m so glad! OR – “Oh, no, not yet! I’m not ready yet! Give me a little more time!”

“I have kept the faith…” Would We Dread it! Would We FEAR our Judgment? 1 John 4:17 “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.” IS THAT TRUE OF YOU & ME? DO WE LOVE HIM NOW?
