DILMA ROUSSEFF Rousseff came to the power as the 36th President of Brazil in 2011. Rousseff became the first democratically elected female president in the world to be impeached and removed. On 31 August 2016, the Senate voted 61 - 20 to impeach, finding Rousseff guilty of breaking budgetary laws and removing her from office.

Economic Policies of Rousseff Rousseff was expected to be against privatization and neoliberalism; however ???

Bolsa Familia ??? «Basic civil rights should be recognized within the civil legal framework.» Rousseff opposes the legalization of illegal drugs. "Brazil will continue to grow, with social inclusion and mobility."

Petrobras Scandal Petrobras formed in 1953 as Brazil’s national oil company, is one of Latin America’s largest companies. Cardoso privatized party of the company in the 1990s; whereas, Lula da Silva steadily restored state control of the company during his eight year. The PT and its coalition partners appointed their own candidates to Petrobras’ most important executive positions. Investigators suspect the scheme was part of a project of power to keep the PT and its allies in government by using funds from Petrobras to pay off the ruling coalitions and fund election campaigns. The PT denies such claims by saying all its election campaigns were funded legally.

What is President Dilma Rousseff’s involvement? President Rousseff has not been accused of any crime. Rousseff as chairman of Petrobras between 2003 and 2010, when much of the corruption allegedly took place. The opposition alleges her presidential election campaigns of 2010 and 2014 were funded by corruption, charges the PT denies. On 12 May 2016, the Senate began the judicial process of impeachment. On August 31 the Senate voted 61–20 to convict Rousseff and permanently remove her from office. Temer became the president in Brazil until January 2019.
