United Services Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP) Element 11
Purpose Provide a DOL certificate of completion of Apprenticeship to Prospective employer.
Benefits there is no cost to the Service member. no off-duty hours are required to earn apprenticeship. it provides proof of a national recognized certificate. it provides documented work experience. it helps build self esteem. it provides a way to gain work experience. Service members receive the same credit for military experience and training as their civilian counterparts. national recognition in the form of a Department of Labor Certificate of Completion lasts for a lifetime and never needs to be renewed. it helps the Service member become more marketable for future employment.
Requirements Active duty and Full Time Support (FTS) Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard Minimum of one year left on current enlistment High school diploma or GED Assigned to and performing duties in a designated rating/military occupational specialty Must have completed the required formal classroom instruction (training) for the trade Selected trade must be your current primary job at your current assigned command, NOT a collateral duty or temporary duty assignment
How to Start Apply online Log hours Weekly closeouts sign by supervisor: LPO Monthly closeout sign by supervisor: LCPO, DIVO Semiannual report sign by CO. Submit to USMAP
