What happens to sailors separating? They will no longer be covered by the UOCAVA. Separating sailors & their family members need to notify the local election official of the change in voter registration status and update personal information in order to vote locally.
Change Voter Registration Status If the sailor stays the same voting residence after separation: Notify the election official of your change in status and that you will be voting at the poll site in future elections. If the sailor is moving to a new state or county after separation Notify the election official of your change in status and that you will no longer be voting in that jurisdiction. Complete a National Voter Registration Form
