Warm Up: Name the three colonial regions. Which of the regions had rocky soil that was not great for farming? Which of the regions produced wheat and other grains and sold excess crops to people outside the region? Which of the regions produced cash crops (cotton, tobacco, rice, indigo) with the help of Enslaved Africans?
Steps to Completing your Project: Whole Group: Write a Dialogue: Create one conversation that might take place at your dinner party between your guests. Be sure to incorporate all your guests in the dialogue. Think about the topics people in your colonial region would have discussed, the geography, weather, economy, etc. Create a document in google docs and share it with Ms. Cruickshank. When it is finished, print it to have with you at the dinner party. In Pairs: Chefs: Create a menu for your dinner party. Your menu should be based on the food sources native to your colony. You will want to include an appetizer, two entrée options, a dessert, and drink options. On the day of the colonial dinner, bring in one of the items listed on your menu to serve at your party. Party Planners: Create party favors for each of your guests. Dinner guests love party favors. What will you give each of your guests as they leave your dinner party? Explain why you chose this favor. Individually: Placemats: Create a personalized placemat for your character to use at the dinner party. Your character is proud of their colony, so the placemat should reflect the geography, climate, economy and culture of your colony. A visitor should be able to look at your placemat and learn about how the people in your colony lived.
Food Rules: No nuts or seafood of any kind Print out list of ingredients to keep next to your dish
