Introduction Howard Gardner, a psychology professor at Harvard University, developed the approach that rather than one type of intelligence (IQ), there are at least 7 different types of intelligence. For most people one or more types of intelligence are the strongest and most developed indicating learning preferences.

7 Intelligences Verbal/Linguistic Musical/Rhythmic Logical/Mathematical Visual/Spatial Bodily/Kinesthetic Intra-personal Interpersonal

Musical/Rhythmic People who are musically/rhythmically intelligent may Be able to sing on key Enjoy various types of music Appreciate various sounds

Logical/Mathematical People who are logically/mathematically intelligent may Be interested in science and mathematics Read science journals or articles Enjoy organizing according to patterns and categories

Visual/Spatial People who are visually/spatially intelligent may Have an “innate” sense of direction Remember details of landmarks or layouts Like to draw

Bodily/Kinesthetic People who are bodily/kinesthetically intelligent may Be considered graceful and/or dance well Be able to fix things without help Be able to figure out how things work without help

Intra-personal People who are intra-personally intelligent may Easily understand other people and can see themselves in their shoes Easily interpret peoples actions/feelings Have a sense of their own abilities and “inner-self”
