Suspended ceiling
SUSPENDED CEILING SUSPENDED CEILINGS are used to provide an attractive finish to the ceiling and at the same time conceal services. These are used to house equipment like ventilation grills, light fittings, fire sprinklers, smoke or heat detectors, security cameras, movement sensors and alarms.
Suspended ceilings have: Light weight structural grid Wire hangers to support the grids from the structural floor. Lightweight tiles Suspended ceilings are based normally on a 600 x 600mm module.
Functional requirements Concealment of structures: to hide changes in the structure, beams, floors etc. and to provide a level and attractive ceiling finish. Concealment of services: to create clear cavity for services, hide these services and allow easy access for maintenance. Decorative appearance: to provide a aesthetic finish for ceilings.
Thermal insulation: thermal insulation is used on the top floor to reduce heat transfer. Acoustical control: sound insulation and absorption. Sound insulation is achieved by using mineral wool which is impervious and dense. Sound absorption is achieved using porous material of light density. Fire control: controls the development and spread of fire, contains the fully developed fire and protect the structure from damage.
