College Bound Scholarship
Introduction Student should have received certificate verifying student was eligible at that time and will awarded the scholarship Sign-ups in middle school
Eligibility Review Students must have applied in the 7th or 8th grade and meet one of the following requirements The students family meets the income requirements in the chart below The student is in foster care or is a dependent of the state Students must apply before June 30th at the end of their 8th grade school year Use multiple points, if necessary.
The Pledge When your student submitted the application for the scholarship, they were pledging to: Graduate from a Washington State high school or home school with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher Stay crime free, no felonies (school disciplinary records not considered) Apply to an eligible college and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) to determine income eligibility Use brief bullets and discuss details verbally.
Costs Covered Average tuition costs, some fees, & book allowance NOT cost of attendance Washington public community & technical colleges, public 4- year colleges & universities, independent colleges & universities and private career colleges. Receiving & Retaining the Scholarship To receive the scholarship students must: Graduate from a Washington State High School (no GEDs) Enroll in eligible college within one year of high school graduation File the FAFSA or WASFA their senior year and every year in college to determine income eligibility, Fulfill the scholarship pledge requirements (listed above), Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Students with DACA who meet residency standards can claim their College Bound Scholarship
