Literary Devices Objective #6.
Poetry A kind of rhythmic, compressed language that uses figures of speech and imagery to appeal to emotion or imagination.

As Class Detectives… It is your mission to go to each table and use the clues to define each literary Device. Make sure your record your definition and an original example for each device on your handout. Each Station will take 5 minutes. Travel with your teams! We will meet back in 30 minutes to share our findings.

Imagery –to use Language to represent objects, actions and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses. Personification –  giving human attributes to objects or animals. Hyperbole - an exaggeration. Repetition –Repeats the same words or phrases a few times to make an idea clearer. Alliteration – two or more words in a row that all start with the same sounds.  onomatopoeia – when a word imitates the sound it is describing.
