Presentation transcript:

Tropical Rainforest Climates World Climate Types Tropical Rainforest Climates

Tropical Rainforests Located between 0 and 5 degrees north and south of the Equator. Temperatures and rainfall are high all year round.

Examples Amazonia Congo Basin South-east Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, and parts of northern Australia).

Climate High temperatures all year round. Very small annual temperature range (Monthly temps range from 26-28 degrees, producing a range of 2 degrees) due to the sun usually moving directly overhead each day. Day and night are similar lengths all year.

Climate High annual rainfall total (around 2000mm) due to the ITCZ (meeting of warm air masses at the equator). Humidity is high all year. Although rain falls throughout the year, it is usually seasonal. Most rain is convectional. Heavy storms produced by cumulo-nimbus clouds occur frequently. Winds are generally light.
