Your body produces an oil that smudges the glass Your body produces an oil that smudges the glass. This oil can even etch the glass if left on too long. Type notes here

(Bacteria eat the oil and excrete an acid that dissolves the lens) Type notes here

Use only LENS CLOTH OR LENS PAPER to clean the glass, ONLY! Type notes here

TOILET PAPER, KLEENEX, AND PAPER TOWELS HAVE FIBERS THAT CAN SCRATCH THE LENS. Type notes here

If there is any dust on the stage, clean with lens paper If there is any dust on the stage, clean with lens paper. If there is not a lens on the stage, you can use other material to clean. Type notes here

Before unplugging the microscope, always shut off the power switch first. Type notes here

Always grab the plug body when unplugging the cord - NOT the cord! Type notes here

Rotate the revolving nose piece to line up the low power lens to look through prior to storing. Type notes here

Move the stage to the lowest point, or, move the lenses to the highest point prior to storing. You want the largest gap between stage and lens as possible Type notes here

Always wind the cord loosely around the arm before carrying Always wind the cord loosely around the arm before carrying. Prevents tripping. Type notes here

Put dust cover on microscope. Type notes here

Keep the microscope 6 inches back from edge of table or storage shelf. Type notes here

Set it up 6 inches back from the desk edge. Use of the microscope Set it up 6 inches back from the desk edge. Set so arm is away from you. Plug it in and turn on light. Clean if needed. Type notes here

Set up/prepare glass slide. Use of the microscope Set up/prepare glass slide. Mount on Stage using stage clips Focus first using low power Switch to medium and focus. Type notes here

Finally, switch to high power. Use of the microscope Finally, switch to high power. Do not use the course focus with high power! Focus using fine focus only. Type notes here
