Fighting for control
Fighting for control The biggest of the four wars was called the seven years’ war. It started in Pennsylvania and spread to western Europe, but the part that was fought in north America was called the French and indian war. France wanted to expand its fur trade with the native americans in the ohio river valley, but the british colonists wanted to settle in the same area and trade with them. The French set up a fort, so british officials sent George Washington to the area and map out the region. He told the French to leave, but they refused.
French and indian war The Indians didn’t want the british colonists taking their land in the ohio vally because they knew they would eventually be forced to leave. They like trading with the French settlers. The creeks helped the French fight the british. The Cherokees (long time enemies of the creeks…remember??) helped the british fight the Indians….at first.
