GCSE History EdExcel GCSE (9-1) 5 one hour lessons per tonight 100% Exam assessed 3 exam papers: Thematic study and historical environment (30%) 1 hour and 15 minutes Period study and British depth study (40%) 1 hour and 45 minutes Modern depth history (30%) 1 hour and 20 minutes

Skills in GCSE History History is a content heavy subject, but it is also important that students develop skills: Causation Continuity and change Interpretation Knowledge and understanding Significance Usefulness and reliability

GCSE Geography AQA GCSE (9-1) 5 one hour lessons per fortnight 100% Exam assessed 3 exam papers: Living with the physical environment (35%) 1 hour and 30 minutes Challenges in the human environment (35%) 1 hour and 30 minutes Geographical applications (issues, investigations, fieldwork, skills) 30% 1 hour and 15 minutes You MUST complete two fieldtrips to answer questions in the fieldwork part of paper 3.

Activities might include: Research of new topics Consolidation of knowledge and revision Practise of GCSE questions

How can you support? Geography Homework Rationale: Reinforce and/or test key concepts taught in class By extension work which covers areas which otherwise could not be covered, especially at Key Stage 4  Involve revision/learning of ideas/knowledge and skills in preparation for assessments/tests Learning Tasks: Students are expected to complete 60-90 minutes of learning at home each week. Activities might include: Research Past paper questions Revision Quizzes Notes

How can you support? Look at student planners and Show My Homework and discuss the work set. Encourage students to watch the news and keep up-to-date with what is going on in the world around them. Ask them about their learning in History and Geography. Keep in contact with us.
