Interior Design Portfolio For this project you will need: 2 file folders Glue Scissors This portfolio is where you will take all your notes and do the different assignments. DON’T LOSE IT! (You will not get another portfolio!)

LINE The most basic element of design Created by connecting two dots The element in a room that moves the eye from one point to another.

Horizontal Line Lines that are parallel to the ground Feelings of: Peace Relaxation Calmness Restfulness

Vertical Line Lines that are perpendicular to the ground Feelings of: Strength Dignity Stability Height Power

Shape & Form The solid form or structure of an object Shape is two-dimensional Form is three-dimensional

COLOR One of the most important elements Influence how people feel and the mood of the room

SPACE Space is the area a designer works with Positive Space (filled) Negative Space (open)

PATTERN The repetition of an image or a design

TEXTURE The way a surface feels or appears to feel Ribbed, crinkled, rough, and smooth are words to describe texture.
