Vocabulary Pyramid: a 3D figure with one polygonal base and triangular sides that come to a point

Square Pyramid – 1 square base and 4 congruent triangular sides Find area of square base Area of square = s2 or bh = 25 * 25 = 625 ft2 Find area of one triangular side Area of triangle = ½ bh = ½ * 25 * 32 = 400 ft2 Multiply the triangular area by 4 since there are four congruent triangular sides 400ft2 * 4 = 1600 ft2 Add the two areas together to get total surface area 625 ft2 + 1600 ft2 = 2225 ft2 32 feet 25 feet 25 feet
