Presentation transcript:

Warm Up : February 1 Create an analytical thesis statement for the topic of online bullying/trolling, or, the disinhibition effect (The online disinhibition effect is a loosening (or complete abandonment) of social restrictions and inhibitions that would otherwise be present in normal face-to- face interaction during interactions with others on the Internet). You may work with a partner to create this thesis statement. You have five minutes.

Learning Targets To write an analytical thesis statement for a new topic. To work in groups to create a body paragraph using pre-generated notecards. To identify what can be taken from this lesson and applied to your drafting of your essay in the computer lab this week.

Today’s Task, Step by Step: Get into groups of four. Of the 12 notecards, pick the appropriate information to build ONE “body paragraph.” This might mean 2, 3, or 4  note cards that go together. Then, build the paragraph by the end of the period, following this structure: Topic sentence Context/detail pairs, with appropriate transitions Commentary/analysis addressing as many of these questions as possible: What does this pattern of evidence lead you to conclude? (third person) In what ways does this conclusion connect to your thesis? (third person)

Wrapping it up What did you learn from this activity that you can implement into your own drafting of your essay this week? List out 2 – 3 ideas.

Homework None  Just remember that we are in Lab 100 for the rest of the week.
