The Digital Portfolio: Protecting Photos Online Chapter 10 The Digital Portfolio: Protecting Photos Online

Copyright Protection Copyright is a legal form of protection for any original work expressed in a tangible form, including digital images. Generally speaking, you own the copyrights of the digital images that you create. If anyone use your images without your permission, you are entitled to take legal action against that person, based on copyright laws. In U.S., you may register your images with the United States Copyright Office—this is not necessary to establish your copyrights but it makes it easier to prove your ownerships.

Size Restrictions Use small images for online posts. Discourage others from copying your images for their own use, e.g. large posters. Tip: keep images sized to 700 pixels or smaller

Copyright Watemarks Add copyright mark to your image (e.g. in Photoshop)
