Proposed Agenda 1. Welcome/attendance 2.      P1680.4 vs. NSF – Paul Eastman (Chris Cleet, and Pat Roder to join) 3.      Review open Action items 4.      Review State of SAB and 2018 Goals for SAB 5.      Discussion of Sponsor Goals -- how to increase activity? 6.      Discussion of "Driverless Standards" -- New Sponsor or just WG – Study Group or IC? 7.      AOB

2018 Priorities SAB Ultimate Goal - Get more people involved with Standards Getting involved in IEEE standards provides you with opportunities to network with industry peers and broaden your understanding of your industry and technology, as well as gain familiarity with the content of standards in which you are involved—facilitating early compliance and anticipating market requirements. Standards should be market relevant with broad support. Corporate Standards require at least 3 Corporations Standards by Individual Working Groups have at least 10 people IEEE Initiatives on future Technology Increase use of Industry Connections

2018 Proposed Goals identifying concrete mechanisms of support for the volunteers by the organization, governance, staff and tools.  Goal #1 - Develop standards for emerging technologies and cross disciplinary sciences Goal #2 – Create a standards education portfolio and be the leading society in the delivery of standards-related professional education Goal #3 – Make Computer Society standards the most used standards in industry and government Portfolio Review – Ongoing Review of the standards under development and/or published by the Computer Society Make CS SAB Information easier to locate on website Update Sponsor P&P’s – Increase use of Industry Connection

Ongoing efforts in C/SAB

Identification/discussion of other Emerging Technologies Building on prior Work Are New Sponsors needed? Identification/recruitment of Stakeholders

2017 work progress Updates on the website Reach out to Technical Conferences with relevant technology Continue Portfolio Review Measurement against goals from 2016 Follow-up on expectations and direction given Provide plan to move to complying with P&P development and Society policies Add definitive action to non-compliant Sponsor/WG Revitalize or remove Sponsors or WGs that do not show minimum levels of interest.

SAB Portfolio Review Process In a sense, all Computer Society standards undergo regular review Portfolio Review inspired essentially 100% review IEEE CS standards must be revised or re-approved every ten years ISO/IEC standards every five years currently expect 14 standards to quietly expire because of little use or interest PARs expire after four years Vitality Committee reviews Standards Committees
