Revision Process Student Code Review Team makes recommendations AGC reviews, makes recommendations and endorses (with a focus on academically-related pieces) Policy Review Team reviews, makes recommendations and approves Cabinet/President reviews, makes recommendations and approves 19 page document - wide footprint, many levels of approval necessary (all bodies review) AGC historically/primarily provides feedback on academic honesty and classroom conduct

Current Student Code of Conduct: Highlights Section 1 Jurisdiction Definitions Student’s Rights and Responsibilities Section 2 Academic Honesty - Examples and Consequences Classroom Conduct - Examples and Consequences General Conduct - 28 Regulations Section 3 Process and Procedures Sanctions Section 4 Requesting a Hearing, Hearing Process, etc. Final Appeal Section 5 Interpretation and Revision

Revision of the Student Code of Conduct No additional changes have been made by Code Review Team to the Student Code of Conduct since last meeting Table feedback addressed wording inconsistencies and potential concerns The new version of the proposed revision of the GRCC Student Code of Conduct is shown here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1KXKyfuTqlbQFJSJDQZupw2hjWapGMjbb Corrections/changes are highlighted in this version.

Table Discussion Feedback Reporting Issues/Behaviors Is there a central reporting system and are New Faculty trained? Conduct issues can be reported in several ways: Conduct Report Form (Advocate system also tracks TIX and BIT): http://www.grcc.edu/studentlife/studentconduct/conductreportform Early Alert System in Blackboard Directly to Lina (Director) or Thalia Guerra-Flores (Assistant Director) At the NFI, Lina does training sessions regarding conduct issues All Faculty could undergo training over the Student Code of Conduct Training can be done departmentally with Lina attending department meetings

Table Discussion Feedback Reporting Issues/Behaviors When to report and What to report There are examples provided under Academic Honesty, Classroom Misconduct and General Conduct of what could be considered violations Faculty have say in how to handle classroom issues and if/when they want to report those issues Conduct web page has several useful resources You can always consult!

Table Discussion Feedback Clarifications Request to clarify Lab situation and safety regarding electronics/cell phones This falls under the syllabus policies by the faculty Could also be a department policy posted for students in a program Location and program questions/clarification Off-site-GRCC students are upheld to the student code of conduct The GRCC Code of Conduct is baseline for all students Departments and Programs may have their own Code/Handbook students must follow in addition to the Code of Conduct Middle College/HS students-how does it work if they are suspended from the HS and not GRCC(and vice versa)? At this point, it would be dealt with as a case-by-case basis in close communication with Lina, the high school counselor and Dean Dan Clark.

Table Discussion Feedback Question about classroom misconduct language and ADA accommodations Included language after examples Students with approved accommodations through Disability Support Services (DSS) have the right to receive and utilize appropriate accommodations, which may include behavior or the use of technology otherwise restricted. Consistency in language for classroom penalties and conduct sanctions Classroom penalties-suggested to use another word. This works to separate out the difference between conduct sanctions and classroom penalties Reviewed to check the language of classroom penalties and classroom misconduct are used consistently throughout

Current Version and Suggested Edits Current Copy of Student Code of Conduct: http://grcc.edu/sites/default/files/attachments/Student%20Code%20of%20Conduct_0.pdf Working Draft - Includes suggested changes from Review Team* and AGC: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1KXKyfuTqlbQFJSJDQZupw2hjWapGMjbb *Student Code Review Team will continue working through General Conduct and Process edits prior to presenting to Cabinet.

Seeking AGC Endorsement Reminder of Process AGC specifically to provide input on direct academic components (Academic Honesty and Classroom Conduct) Seeking Recommendations and Endorsement Post AGC endorsement, moves to Cabinet for review Please provide any suggestions/changes by February 23, 2018 to Lina (carolineblair@grcc.edu)
