As often happens, a subculture that comes from the West changes beyond recognition in Russia, and that was true for the skinheads. Russia's skinhead movement appeared in the early 1990s, amidst that era's social and economic turmoil.

Skinheads began as a working-class subculture in Britain in the 1960s Skinheads began as a working-class subculture in Britain in the 1960s. Originally it had nothing to do with color, race, religion, or national origin.

Youth culture, unencumbered by any bans and ready to follow any shiny new idea, started developing along several lines. Today we have several movements of skinheads: White Power Skins, Nazi Skins, Boneheads; SHARP`s (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice), SLO (Skinheads Liberation Organization) RASH (Red & Anarchist Skin Heads)  STRAIGHT EDGE (sXe) SKINHEADS

WHO: Extremely nationalist skinheads, advocating violence and racial intolerance. They wear Martins shoes with white laces – the symbol of white race domination. Associate themselves as solders of the 4th reich. “Religion” - RAHOWA (Racial Holy War) Symbols – swastika, Celtic cross, numerals 88 (the 8th letter of the Latin alphabet is “H”, so “HH” means Heil Hitler). Slogan: «Wide Pride World Wide» Music -  hardcore, hatecore, punk, death-metal, gothic-metal, nu-metal and ets. Typical skinhead style includes shaved heads, combat boots, tattoos, and prominent body piercings.

Traditional skinheads. Claim skinheads. Associate themselves as “out of politics”. Slogan: Beer, parties, football, music. Music: ska, reggae, rocksteady, rhythm and blues.

Who: Anarchists. Ideas: antiracism. Symbols: abbreviation SHARP, Trojan helmet.

Idea: The capitalistic way of development is the deadlock for civilization. They wear: red shoe laces. Symbols: the portraits of Lenin or Trotsky, the red star, hammer and sickle, the letter “A” in the circle (the sign of anarchy).

Who: they follow ascetic way of life, without drugs, diseases, injustice. Religion: STRAIGHT EDGE is their religion. They wear: blue shoe laces. Symbols: sXe. Slogan: «True Till Death» . Music: Hardcore, Streetcore, nu-metal etc.

They are very aggressive to other people, violent, cruel They are very aggressive to other people, violent, cruel. They can kill without any doubt. Member of an international youth subculture characterized by hair and dress styles evoking aggression and physical toughness.  In many countries, skinheads are regarded as extreme right-wing nationalists who espouse anti-Semitic and other racist views and engage in violent attacks on immigrants and racial minorities. This characterization, however, does not apply to all members of the subculture. As you can see, it is very difficult to speak about pluses of this movement. The only positive point is their idea “Only strong people can live”. So people must have strong and healthy body and will.

to change the world to the best to show off to rebel against the older generation to have their own values and beliefs to be in a collective to differ from others to differ from social norms to oppose to the society/regime to express their individuality to show protest against school to protest against parents to make other people know who they are, etc.
