The Arab Spring refers to a series of protests in countries of Southwest Asia and North Africa that began in December of 2010 Started out when a man in Tunisia that had been repeatedly harassed by the police set himself on fire in protest Since then, protests against the oppressive governments of nearly every Southwest Asian country have occurred Some have resulted in reform, some in regime change, some in crackdowns, and one in a large scale civil war
