Discussion on Emotion Studies and Scripture From your experience, how do emotions direct behaviour? For example, how might feeling fear alter your decision making? Emotions are ‘about something’ (i.e. they have an object). Can you think of different types of objects that emotions could have? Thinking about the last two questions, what aspects of a biblical text might be newly opened up to us if we explore emotions in the text, both the emotions of the author and audience? What might be some of the challenges of discussing the emotions of a different, ancient culture?
