My amazing family:

Our day: Each day is very important. Please do your best to make appointments after school, if possible. We are learning from the 8:30 bell to 3:00 dismissal. Agendas: Agendas will be going home daily (M-Th) starting this week. I will initial them each night (most nights...) Please look sign them each night. Feel free to add a note, if you want. Homework: Math minutes; practice from the lesson and/or math facts. Reading: Reading At Home (more info later) or 20 minutes nightly. I believe homework should reinforce what we are learning in class, not to be busy work. Please advise me if HW is taking too long. Homework is not graded, but is important to make sure students are able to do the course work.

Curriculum Focus: STEM -- Science Technology Engineering Math I love teaching all subjects with a STEM slant. Engineering with Tufts University and LEGO. Engineering careers Math: basic knowledge and enrichment. Reading: extend your thinking BEYOND the text... Think about what you do as a reader -- NYTimes -- Sunday Comics -- Work Need to determine the purpose, the need, and the response.

Our classroom website. Dates are added monthly. Videos and pictures (need all permission forms) Projects Student websites for learning

Volunteering in our Classroom and on Field Trips Please sign up for a volunteer clearance. Best times for volunteering: 8:30-9:30 --Math 10:30-11:30 --Reading or any other time is great, too! Need: Room Parent Friday Folder person

Classroom Economy Have you heard about credits and debits? Class Store monthly (small prizes appreciated) Positive reinforcement, especially for the kids who are always doing the right thing. Works well to improve/change behavior (line up at recess, etc) Links to the Social Studies curriculum

PRIDE

EOG, Report Cards, Conferences The EOG is coming in May. My goal is to provide skills and strategies for the kids for the testing world they have now entered. It is a "LIFE" skill, not a TEST skill. Report Cards go home quarterly. Interim Reports go home mid-quarter for all students. Conferences: Fall conferences on Other times, just give me a call. I am here from 7 AM - 5:00 most days (unless it's soccer carpool...)
