(Erik) van Essen A.R. (Robert) Westers Introduction Joined research project between Sietse from Windesheim University of Applied Sciences as a part of his PhD project and Robert and Erik from the Dutch Research institute TNO Within this conference the results of the first phase within this project are presented. Any suggestions and feedback is welcome 05/12/2018

(Available) any- where and anytime Problem definition Social Trends Impact Extra pressure on health professionals #elderly people in proportion to working population increases More extramural care to reduce costs Volunteers and health professions are nomadic (Available) any- where and anytime How to inform a network of nomadic health professional and volunteers in a telemonitoring environment In 2020 approximately one fifth of the population is elder the 65 So we see an increase in the demand for specialized healthcare services. To deal with this situation within the Netherlands, we see a policy for this group to live longer within their own permises 05/12/2018

Research question Technical Trends Problem description All IP Mobile and Fixed Network Integration How to inform a network of nomadic health professional and volunteers in a telemonitoring environment Wireless Sensor Networks Research Question How can new communication networks provide an infrastructure to support a network of nomadic health workers 05/12/2018

Wide Area Network Next generation network infrastructures Trend All-IP network Fixed as well as mobile based on the Internet protocol IP will be used for data as well as voice communication IP Multimedia Subsystem and SIP Reason for all-IP Cost reduction and flexible IP multimedia subsystem based on SIP is considered as a key element in realizing the All-IP network. It makes it possible to realise IP-based communication services in a standardized manner IMS is based on the Internet Standard SIP 05/12/2018

Internet standard for signaling and session control Next generation network infrastructures Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Internet standard for signaling and session control e.g. VoiP session, conference call session, but also streaming multimedia content Main purpose of SIP User location (SIP address: dijkstra@telecom.tno.nl) Negotiation Call management Changing features during session User location translation of SIP to network address. Unique identifieer Negotiation e.g. which codex do we use during video conference Call management (add, drop, transferring participants) 05/12/2018

Next generation network infrastructures IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Goal: provide service enablers within the network which can be used for network applications like telemonitoring. Control services en charge for it and QoS, Roaming for operators Based on IP protocols. This way it integrates the mobile and cellular world 05/12/2018

Next generation network infrastructures IMS - Enabling Services Presence Network connectivity Availability Capability Moods Messaging Plain text Images and video Push-to-Talk-over-Cellular VoiP Group Management NC -> online/offline A -> busy or not C -> eg. Next generation network infrastructures Content Repurposing Platform CRP allows multimedia content to be used for different purposes then the one it was originally meant for. Solves the mismatch between content origin and content destination E.g. : Screen size, color depth, audio/video codec, file size, protocol etc… Protocol – HTTP – SIP A CRP allowes mm content to be used for different purposes then the one it was originally mend for. Give content a new purpose then where it was originally 05/12/2018

Conclusions and Recommendations Wireless Sensor Networks can be used within the home of the elderly for fall detection SIP and IMS offer service enablers that help realize a telemonitoring solution. There is a need for content repurposing in order to be able to distribute the correct format content to each specific device. IMS is not completely implemented yet. 05/12/2018
