How to use the NEC projector Its easy! Really!

How to use the NEC projector IMPORTANT-make sure you have reserved the equipment (projector and/or laptop). The sign up log is available at the reception desk in 415. Please allow minutes of setup time when making room reservations. IMPORTANT-please power down equipment and return to economics office immediately after use.

How to use the NEC projector Materials you will need: AV cart with/power source/extension cables The NEC projector Projector screen Projector power cable VDA cable to connect from the projector to the PC Your PC (or departmental PC) Power or battery charge for PC If you are using the departmental PC then you will need to bring your data on a CD or a USB memory device/data storage (such as a mini cruzer). Our PC does not take floppy or zip disks. *All AV materials for the projector are to remain on the AV cart, with the exception of the departmental laptop and power adapter.

How to use the NEC projector Make sure you have the projector screen in place. Connect all cables including power, BEFORE turning on the equipment. This includes the VDA cable (blue ends). When attaching the VDA cable from the projector to the back of the laptop, make sure the screws are carefully tightened. All cables are connected, right? (Just checking) POWER ON the PROJECTOR FIRST!! If you do not, the software will NOT recognize the computer. The power button is on the top of the projector. When it is yellow, it is plugged into the wall, but on stand by (energy saver). When you turn it ON the light turns green and blinks. When it is ready, the light will be a solid green and the NEC logo will appear in dark blue on the projector screen. Its a good idea to have the lights dimmed in the room or you will have trouble seeing the logo. When projector light is solid green, you may turn on the computer.

How to use the NEC projector When using the departments laptop, you will need to wait one minute after booting up the computer to type the password econbuddy and hit enter. The screen will be completely blank while you are doing this. If you entered the password properly, the computer will boot up automatically, but the desktop images will only appear on the projector screen, not the computer monitor. After the computer is finished booting up, you can make the display screen appear on the PC by holding down the Fn button (bottom row of keypad) and the F5 button (top row on keypad) simultaneously. A window will open (on the projector screen) showing the monitor choices available. By continually hitting the F5 button while still holding down the Fn button, you can toggle through the choices until you have selected the one indicating both the screen and monitor as displaying images. Once you have made your choice, let go of the buttons. There is no need to press enter. In a few seconds, the desktop images will appear according to the choice you have selected.

How to use the NEC projector Review All cables plugged in, including power Dim lights, turn on projector first, wait for it to warm up Turn computer on, wait one minute, enter econbuddy password Press Fn and F5 simultaneously to select viewing options

While holding down the toggle switch, move wrist, keeping arm still, to see the pointer move on the screen. This make take a little practice. When you have made a selection using the toggle, use the left button on the top of the mouse to click and select.
