Tax-aide Quality Review Process This is the primary cover page. John Meredith CO1 Certification Coordinator December 6, 2016

Importance of Quality Review Client expectations IRS requirement Tax-Aide priority Quality problems create inefficiencies and big headaches for our site, district, region, and national as well as our IRS partners. Bad quality adversely affects publicity of program (could jeopardize program for egregious situations).      

Need to be Experienced IRS Publication 5105 Intake and Quality Review requirement for certification of all Tax-Aide volunteers IRS Publication 5105 ‘Sherlock Holmes’ detective approach (question, probe, common errors, etc.)      

Follow a Process Not a random process. Not just doing the return over again. Check sheets can facilitate process. Use references. Learn from other volunteers. End of day quick review to spot common problems.      

Recommended Process Use screen dump of completed tax return. Interact with taxpayer. Use intake sheet making sure it is compete. Analyze to identify and fix common issues. Double check any required changes. Feedback to other reviewers and preparers.
