System Requirements Through the use of forms, employees will need access to the following functions: Access customer and pet information Add information for new customers and pets Print receipts for services rendered View and print past appointments and services administered Print out 3 reports: Sales for the Day, Employee Service and Services Most Requested by Breed

Context Diagram of the Customer System for Best Friends Grooming

Customer System Overview Processes: Process customer information Take order for services Print receipts and produce reports Data Stores: Customer Dogs Appointment Employee External Entities:

Level 0 Data Flow Diagram

Process 1: Customer Information This process adds new customer or pet information to the system. From the customer, pet information such as dog name, breed and size is given. Information will also be collected for the new customer. This information will then be appended to the Customer and Dog databases respectively.

Level 1 Process 1 DFD

Process 2: Services Customers will be able to select the types of services that they would like performed on their pet such as flea dip, bath, haircuts and nail clipping. The services rendered will then be sent to the Appointment database.

Level 1 Process 2 DFD

Process 3: Request The purpose of this process is to allow the Employee to request different information from the system. First, the employee can print a receipt for the services rendered for that day and also pull up any of past appointments to let the customer know what was done for their pet in the past. This process also allows an employee to generate any of 3 main reports: Sales for the Day, Employee Services for the Week and Services Most Requested by Breed.

Level 1 Process 3 DFD

Sales for the Day Report As stated in its name, this report lets the employee view the total revenue earned that day. It can either be sales for the current day or any day in the past. Through the use of a drop-down list or a textbox, a specific date will be selected or entered. That day and the accompanying price information will be pulled from the Appointment data store(D3), totaled and posted back to the user.

Level 1 Process 3 DFD (continued)

Employee Services for the Week The next report details which services an employee has done for that particular week. After a specific Employee ID and the dates for that week of business is entered, the report prints out the appropriate information based on what was pulled from all 4 data stores. This report helps employees of Best Friends Grooming keep tabs of what their regular customers request over time as well as inform them of the work they’ve done over the week.

Level 1 Process 3 DFD (continued)

Services Most Requested by Breed The third and final report lets the employee know what particular services are popular with a particular breed, based on how many times the services are requested. By querying the Customer(D1), Dogs(D2) and Appointment(D3) data stores based on Breed and Services criteria, the report is generated. This report can cover requested services anywhere from a particular day, to a week or even a month.

Level 1 Process 3 DFD (continued)
