When the Sharer’s Receiver is in the powered Dexcom SHARE Cradle, the Cradle transfers glucose information using Bluetooth® to the Sharer’s iPhone or iPod touch. The information is then sent to the cloud using either Wi-fi or a cellular data plan. Lastly, the glucose information is sent from the cloud to the Follower’s iPhone or iPod touch using Wi-fi or the Follower’s cellular data plan. The Sharer can have up to 5 Followers.

Dexcom SHARE consists of the following components: Dexcom G4 PLATINUM System, Dexcom SHARE Cradle, Bluetooth wireless technology, the Sharer’s iPhone (4s or later) or iPod Touch (5th gen), the Dexcom Share App, the Internet, the Follower’s iPhone (4 or later) or iPod touch (5th gen) and the Dexcom Follow App. The Dexcom website will display the most up to date list of supported devices. The list of compatible devices can be found at http://www.dexcom.com/share-compatibility.

Once the Dexcom Share app is downloaded the user can log in to their existing Dexcom account or sign up for a new account. The app will then lead the customer through a set up wizard which will allow the customer to pair the cradle and invite Followers. The Dexcom Share App does NOT display senor information, display the trend graph, or provide alerts. All glucose information should be viewed on the Receiver. The Sharer can have up to five Followers.

The Sharer must first send a Follow Invitation email to the Follower The Sharer must first send a Follow Invitation email to the Follower. The Follower will open the invitation email, download the Dexcom Follow App, and start following the Sharer. The invitation expires after seven days. When the Dexcom SHARE system is in use, the Dexcom Follow App allows the Follower to: View the Sharer’s glucose information Receive notifications of glucose excursions (In the Follow app, the Follower can change the Sharer glucose excursion levels as needed. The Follower can turn off all alerts if desired.) View the Sharer’s Trend Graph (if the Sharer grants permission) A Follower can follow up to five people.

Dexcom SHARE is not covered by insurance and no prescription is required. The first year of service is included with the price of the cradle ($399). The second year service can be paid monthly or annually.
