??? Ever heard of these slogans??? "This is your brain. This is your brain on drugs. Any questions?" "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." "Friends don't let friends drive drunk." "You could learn a lot from a dummy." These are all widely recognizable slogans from national Public Service Announcement Campaigns

Famous PSA’s from the past http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl5gBJGnaXs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQ_0AwM93j4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOfI21GZjcQ

Group Project Explanation You will be placed in groups. Each member will be responsible for working on your group’s PSA! Each group will decide on a current topic to create a Public Service Announcement. Your group will create your PSA in power point format and will present to the class. Remember it is best to incorporate all 3 of Aristotle's persuasive techniques: ethos, logos, pathos

Possible PSA Topics Texting and driving Drinking and driving Anti-bullying School nutrition Staying Fit (Fight Obesity) Other teacher approved topic

Explanation of how work will be completed Each member will be responsible for working on this project! Determine your PSA topic Determine PSA: Purpose -(increase awareness, public to take action, etc.) Target Audience-(K-12 students, high school students, middle-high school students, general public, etc.) Techniques/Appeals you want to include- (Ethos, Logos, Pathos, Emotional appeal, Testimonial, Bandwagon, etc.) Begin Research All members will research their group’s chosen topic. Plan your PSA Using the storyboard graphic organizer- member #1 will write in box 1. Pass the graphic organizer to member #2 to write in box #2 and so forth. Create PSA Once you have completed the graphic organizer, create your PSA using Power Point. You may add pictures, charts, video, music, etc. After your PSA is complete, using the same method as you did to complete your storyboard, your group should come up with a justification about your PSA. The justification should be a paragraph about why the content of your PSA is important, how is it relevant, and how you used the persuasive appeals.
