Terms & Conditions Figures used in this presentation are provided under the condition that data only will be used for research purposes within the task force meeting. The data may not be used or published for other purposes by the EC, Eurostat or another party. Figures used in this presentation do not match exactly to other delivered estimates. They should NOT: Be compared directly to other delivered estimates Be circulated outside of the task force meeting

Definitions of SME To visualize the differences between the various definitions the following four definitions are used in the calculations: Only persons employed by enterprise: Micro: <= 9 persons employed Small: >= 10 and <= 49 persons employed Medium: >= 50 and <= 249 persons employed Only persons employed by Dutch enterprise Group (foreign enterprises not included) Only persons employed by enterprise Group, foreign enterprises included

Definition of SME (2) Persons employed and turnover by enterprise group, foreign enterprises included. Micro: <= 9 persons employed and Turnover <=2 mlj Small: <= 49 persons employed and turnover <= 10 mlj Medium: <= 249 persons employed and turnover <= 50 mlj Balance sheet information is not available of all enterprises. Therefor it is not possible to stratify by balance sheet total.

Turnover SME, SBS 2013

Persons employed SME, SBS 2013

Enterprises SME, 2013 B-N, S95 excl. K,

Threshold SME, SBS 2013

Persons employed SME by section, SBS 2013

Turnover SME by SME, SBS 2013

Difficulties Balance sheet information; is the use of turnover necessary when balance sheet information is not available? Foreign enterprises; lack of information about persons employed abroad. For now the assumption that in case of a foreign enterprise the enterprise group in total has more then 250 persons employed. SBS Survey; not optimally designed for the definitions used.
