“The Good News of Heaven” (Revelation 21-22)

“The Good News of Heaven” Looking to the book of Revelation chapters 21 & 22, let us see what God has to say concerning what it will be like once the final enemy (1Corinthians 15:26) is conquered.

Revelation 21-22: A look at what John saw Revelation 21:1-3; 5-7, The dwelling of God with men! (See also Exodus 25:8-9; 1Kings 8). Revelation 21:9-21, An angel takes John to a great and high mountain so that he can look closely at this new Jerusalem, the bride of the Lamb.

What will this abode be like? Some things will be missing… Revelation 21:4, 8, 22, 23, 25, 27; 22:3, 22:5 Things that WILL be there… Revelation 21:1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 22-27; 22:1-2 Those who overcome and arrive there will have very special blessings. Revelation 22:3-5 Then the book closes with a warning. Revelation 22:6-21

Conclusion We’ve considered this hour what God’s abode will be like: There will be some things missing (All pain, sorrow, all of this life’s heartaches). Some things will be there (The Godhead, all of those whose names are written in the Book of Life). Those who arrive there will have very special blessings (They can see God’s face, and serve Him endlessly). But the book also closes with a warning (Beware, lest you miss it).

He who has an ear, let Him hear… The citizens of this heavenly city… They are God’s people (Rev. 21:1-5). The citizens of heaven are a satisfied people (Rev. 21:6). These citizens are an overcoming people (Rev. 21:7-8). The challenge of this heavenly city… We must keep God’s word (Rev. 22:6-11; 18-19). We have a responsibility of serving the Lord (Rev. 22:12-14). We must keep our lives clean (Rev. 22:15-16). We must keep expecting Jesus Christ to return (Rev. 22:20-21).
