South East High School PD Banked Day #6 November 1, 2016

Community Builder Halloween and Day of the Dead mark the beginning of the fall/winter holiday season. What do you consider when planning for this time of the year? Pair Share 1-2 minutes

Setting the Context Purpose: Outcome: -Revisit PLC goals -Plan instruction for Lesson Design Cycle #2 Outcome: -Establish an instructional focus for Lesson Design Cycle -Make progress towards the timeline for Cycle #2 implementation Read each point (popcorn strategy) 1-2 minutes

REVISIT OPERATIONAL NORMS DEPARTMENT/PLC NORMS Have each member take a bullet from their chosen norms Strategy: read aloud 45 seconds

Choices for discussion: What does it look like when you are collaborating with your PLC? Which norm will you focus on today? Choose a different one? Strategy: pair/share 1-2 minutes

Guide Your Planning PLC Goals Constructive Conversations PLCs should take the time to review the goals. Remind the group that SWOG, RWAC and constructive conversations (these have formal protocols but, for now we just want to get the students to talk to each other) should be considerations for lesson planning. Scope and Sequence Instructional Plan Focus 1-2 minutes 6

Essential Question How do we build a school culture where school observations are the norm? Question: Pair/Share. How do we incorporate the feedback that we have received from the various classrooms observations into our lesson planning? 1-2 minutes

Guiding Questions Which standard(s) will we address when planning this lesson? What is the focus/content objective of the lesson? What part of the instructional plan (strategy) are we going to focus on for this lesson design cycle? What is our timeline? (NOTE: planning must be completed by November 29 and delivery/observations by December 13th) How will we differentiate to ensure learning for ALL students? How might your PLC assess student learning during the lesson? PLCs should bear these questions in mind while planning their lessons. Leave up on the screen during planning time. 2-3 minutes
