ILP OF DESIGN, TECHNOLOGY AND CRAFT By Esmeralda

THE DESIGN PROCESS This is the process we went by. First we investigated what we wanted to do. Than we started designing our pictures. We planned what was going to happen. We start producing our project bit by bit. Now we evaluate our final product, what was good about it and what necessarily what could’ve used improvement.

CONSTRUCTION STEPS I USED

MY SKETCHES!

Tools I used and what they are used for For my project I use many different tools and they are: A coping saw Drill Hand held sander Sand paper Pyro Graph A coping saw is used to cut small pieces of wood and is specially designed so that it moves in any direction, straight or curved. Drills are used to make holes in things to be able to hold objects in place and that is what I used to keep my project in place. Hand held sanders are designed to roughly create the outline of your shape and to thoroughly cure the rounded corners. A pyro graph is used to mark out details in the wood using heat. To get the perfect stroke takes practise. For more information on this topic see next page

RISKS OF TOOLS TOOLS HAZARDS CONTROL Coping saw Caution to cut or damaged fingers To never use saw without wood being well restraint to prevent movement. Drill Drills contain crystalline silica and deep exposure can be fatal as it is a deadly chemical. Wear eye protection and to be patient for it t do its job. Make sure object in use is firmly held down. Hand Held Sanders Scaring of the fingers or minor injury to hand. Have fingers placed away from the tool Sandpaper Scraping of skin Take caution of placement of fingers Pyro Graph Burn to hand Never take eye when in use. Have a tap nearby to supply cold water if needed.

My Evaluation 1. What new skills did I learn during this project? I learnt what a coping saw is and what is used for, I also learnt about it’s hazards. I already knew what a drill was but I never knew how to use 1 and this project helped me understand how to use it and that it’s performance isn’t always quick. 2. What I liked, dislike and why? I liked the experience of handling everything on our own and the fact that we were given instruction and were told to get to it, no complications was great. It makes us feel independent. I disliked the coping saw because of how week the blade was and how so many were broken because of that. 3. What I thought was good, bad and why? I think that the range of equipment's was great. I also like the amount of trust you have with us, it’s a good thing to have. What I didn’t like was the small space and amount of time but they didn’t bother me that much. 4. What I could or would improve / change if I had the chance? The 1 thing I would love to change is the way I painted my character. The pain took so long to dry and when I checked to see if it was dry it was still wet. I also painyed it a bit to thick but it’s only the first time. Practise will make perfect.

Past Reflections And Expected Learning's 31. 1 .13 To build skills in the design process. Today I learnt the process of design and how it’s always around me in the most unsuspecting times. I worked 80% on my work but I spent a bit of time talking. 7. 2. 13 To reinforce my understanding of the design process by completing my A2 poster. By next lesson I will want to have thought about characters that might work well for this project. Complete poster. 8. 2 . 13 To begin my on guard safety training. Today I was able to complete my safety training successfully. 12. 2 . 13 Commence production of pencil holders, start marking out timber on the wood and start cutting it. Today we started marking out our sketches on the small pieces of wood and began cutting the wood with coping saws.

When you check this PowerPoint please don’t list that the annotations of the sketches are not here, they’re on paper so when you want to see them please feel free to ask. HEADS UP
