EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE You may have heard people mention "IQ" when talking about how smart someone is. IQ stands for "intellectual quotient,“ but it is just one measure of our abilities.

Emotional Intelligence There are many kinds of intelligence, including: musical intelligence, interpersonal (interacting with people) intelligence, linguistic (word smart) intelligence, and kinesthetic (body smart, athletic) intelligence.

Emotional Intelligence One important type of intelligence is emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand, use, and manage our emotions.  Emotional intelligence is sometimes called EQ (or EI) for short.

Self-Regard The nice thing about EQ is that you can improve it by working on your EQ skills. Self-regard is the ability to respect and accept oneself as you are. It is an important part of emotional intelligence.
