2017 Advanced Placement Testing Important information & Registration Process

What is AP Testing The AP Program offers 35 Exams in a wide variety of subject areas. You don’t have to take an AP class to take the AP exam You can take the same exam more than once (not in the same year). Except for the three Studio Art exams, which are portfolio assessments, most AP Exams contain multiple-choice questions and a free-response section. Testing begins May 1 Most tests are between 2.5 to 3.5 hours long (with breaks)

What will taking an AP Test do for you?

Preparing and Scoring Doing well and working with your AP Teacher is the best preparation. Get ready for the exams by practicing with sample questions and knowing what to expect on exam day. (AP Student Website) Scores range from 1-5 (5 being the highest) Scores are provided online through the student’s account. Students elect what scores are shared with colleges and scores can be transferred if a student attends a new college. Each college’s academic department decides how much credit is awarded.
