Writing the draft Introduction Main body Conclusion

The introduction Context - why is this topic important? Here you are setting the scene for the essay. Thesis statement - answer the essay question by writing what you consider to be the main reason(s) or explanation(s).

The main body - Topic sentence The main body is made up of a series of paragraphs, each looking at a different single topic idea. For each paragraph; Begin with a topic sentence. This should; introduce the topic, and directly answer the question.

Example of a topic sentence The Russian Revolution was the caused by the First World War.

Main body - PEEL For that Point provide some Evidence (or an example) to support it. Next you need to Explain how your point and evidence answers the question. Finally Link back to the research question.

Conclusion Answer the question by identifying your most important points. Remember to restate the thesis statement.

Reference List Write a full reference list of your sources in APA format.
