The Cuban missile crisis Jordan gentile Alden carr Chris sanchez

How were the missiles discovered? On October 16, 1962 a spy plane caught pictures of Soviet Union installations of missiles under construction in Cuba.

Why were the missiles sent to Cuba?  The Soviet Union wanted to win the nuclear arms race with the United States and to have the missiles first.  Cuba was afraid that the United States would attack Cuba like the Bay of Pigs. Since the U.S. had nuclear weapons in Turkey, the Soviet Union put them in Cuba.

What countries were involved?  United States  Soviet Union  Cuba  Turkey (kinda)

what was the outcome?  Letters were sent back and forth from Kennedy and Khrushchev stating that Cuba would get rid of the missiles if the United States took their missiles out of Turkey. They finally agreed to take the missiles out of Cuba and then out of Turkey and then the nuclear arms race was over but not the arms race.

Who were the historical personalities involved and their roles?  Kennedy- President of the United States  Khrushchev- President of the Soviet Union  Fidel Castro-Dictator of Cuba
