Presentation transcript:

C P D where am I now? where do I want to be? what do I have to do to get there? what are the benefits to service users? You all have a CPD folder, be it paper, or virtual It is yours, not the company’s. It’s about you, your achievements, your abilities and your development needs & evidence of these

Needs • to be self-directed: driven by you, not your employer • focus on learning from experience, reflective learning and review, set targets Identification • what you have learnt • how this benefits the client / service user Purpose • provides an overview & evidence of your professional development to date • reminds you of your achievements and how far you've progressed • directs your career and helps you keep your eye on your goals • uncovers gaps in your skills and capabilities • opens up further development needs Using your personal development plan We know that not all health and care professionals have a personal development plan – you may be self-employed, or your employer may not work in this way. But if you do have a personal development plan, you may find it useful to use this as a starting point for writing your statement. If you do not already have a personal development plan, you may find it useful to develop one and to use this approach. Key parts • be a documented process • be self-directed: driven by you, not your employer • focus on learning from experience, reflective learning and review • help you set development goals and objectives • include both formal and informal learning. • Most personal development plans involve identifying: • learning needs • learning activities • types of evidence • what you have learnt • How this benefits the client / service user Purpose • provides an overview of your professional development to date • reminds you of your achievements and how far you've progressed • directs your career and helps you keep your eye on your goals • uncovers gaps in your skills and capabilities • Opens up further development needs • provides examples and scenarios for a CV or interview • demonstrates your professional standing to clients and employers
