Don’t Be A Hypocrite 1 Peter 2:1-2, “Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation”

Hypocrisy defined “The playing a part, feigning, a moral or religious counterfeit, insincerity, one who pretends to be other than what he is, a play-actor, to wear a mask, pretender.” Hypocrisy is characterized by deceitfulness. cf. 1 Timothy 4:1-2; cf. Matthew 23:29-33 Luke 12:1, “Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.” Matthew 23:3, “all things therefore whatsoever they bid you, (these) do and observe: but do not ye after their works; for they say, and do not.”

Don’t Be A Hypocrite One can be hypocritical by doing godly acts, but for the wrong purpose. Matthew 6:1-2, 5, 16; cf. 1 Corinthians 13:3

Don’t Be A Hypocrite One can be a hypocrite by judging others by a standard which he refuses to apply to himself. Matthew 7:1-5; James 5:9; Philippians 2:14-15; Matthew 7:2; cf. John 7:24; Matthew 23:2-6; Romans 12:1-3, 21; Galatians 6:1 John 12:48, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my sayings, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I spake, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

Don’t Be A Hypocrite One can be a hypocrite when he follows a false religion while claiming to be religious. Matthew 15:7-9; Ephesians 4:5 2 Peter 3:16, “… which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as (they do) also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.”

Don’t Be A Hypocrite One can be a hypocrite when he asks questions deceitfully. Matthew 22:15-22 Hebrews 4:12; 1 Corinthians 4:5; cf. Proverbs 6:16-19

Don’t Be A Hypocrite One can be a hypocrite when he converts others to a sect instead of God. Matthew 23:15; cf. Acts 3:19 Some “Christians” are not converted to Christ.

Don’t Be A Hypocrite One can be a hypocrite when he omits the more important matters of the law. Matthew 23:23-24

Don’t Be A Hypocrite One can be a hypocrite by pretending to have an outward purity but having an inner corruption. Matthew 23:25-28 Ours is to be an everyday religion. Daily prayer. Acts 2:42,46; Philippians 4:6 Daily study. John 5:39; 2 Timothy 2:15; Acts 17:11 Growth. 2 Peter 3:18; Hebrews 5:12-14; 3 John 2 Daily evangelism. Acts 20:31 Daily concern 1 Corinthians 12:25 and exhortation. Hebrews 3:13 Daily cross bearing. Luke 9:23

Why the religion of the Pharisees? Did not know God. cf. Jeremiah 2:8, “Where is the Lord? And they that handle the law knew me not.” Did not love God. John 5:44, “How can ye believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?” (KJV) cf. John 15:23-24 Did not know the law of God. Matthew 15:7-9; John 5:39-40

Don’t Be A Hypocrite 1 Peter 2:1-2, “Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation” Matthew 24:51, “… and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.”
